Helping Newsom Find His Campaign Slogan

Both Jesse Watters’ 3/7/26 program and the The Adam Carolla Show showed clips of recent interviews conducted by Gavin Newsom. In one of the interviews, the Adam Friedland Show, host Friedland asked Newsom, “What is your defined political project? Newsom stated, “I don’t have one.”
That is not a good answer for any politician.
The host asked again, “What is the thing you want to accomplish?” Newsom answered, “I don’t have a brand. I don’t have a tag, ‘Make America Great,’ ‘the great society,’ something like ‘Medicare for all billionaires.’” The host looked baffled with raised eyebrows. Continuing Newsom said, “But for me, standing up for ideals, striking out against injustice, that’s my why, in every way, shape or form. [Then Newsom repeated] standing up for ideals, striking out against injustice.” Then there was more mumbling about what kind of democrat that Newsom says he is, but after listening to this sickening mess 5 or 6 times I could not make it out. It is something about Newsom being a “Sara Shriber Democrat.” Even Fox News’ captions were unintelligible. Then, with much hand waving, Newsom said, “I’m into that whole 60s, the vernacular of the 60s. Solving for ignorance, poverty, disease, the spirit of the 60s [with much more hand waving], the spirit of King, how the nonviolent movement of Gandhi, Havel, Mandela, that moral authority, that whole space, that’s the zeitgeist. So, that’s me. That’s my dad, my mom. That’s the book. And that’s my ‘why’. So, standing up for ideals is what gay marriage was about. The work I’m doing right now [punching his fist into his hand] pushing back. We’re going to lose this country. Just feeling like I need to be held to account and strike out against the injustices of the day.”
Did anybody understand what he just said? He did throw out some names, and big words, but what did he say? Did he ever answer the question, “What is the thing you want to accomplish if you are president?”
Then it hit me. When Newsom stated, “That’s my ‘why’.” That’s it! Gavin Newsom’s campaign hats could simply say, “Why?” and that would be the question of his campaign. Why would anyone elect someone with this level of mumbo jumbo? This is worse than normal democrat mumbo jumbo. It is even worse that one of Kamala Harris’ loony word salad campaign speeches. Could you imagine Newsom’s State of the Union Address? We’d all be saying, “Why?”
Jesse Watters’ comment was, “That’s sloppier than the 107-day campaign [of Kamala Harris].”
You’d think that the interview couldn’t get any worse, but the talk show host returned to his question, “So, if you had to define it, what would it be and you get X?” Newsom talked over the host the whole time saying, “I need your help to define it. You are better at this.” Frustrated the host said, “I don’t know you and what your understanding is.” Newsom continued talking over the host and said, “I’m just giving you my ‘why’ so you translate it into human,” causing the host to look more bewildered than before, if that were possible, and literally said, “Whut?”
That would be a good slogan for Newsom. “Whut?” That could be on a Newsom ball cap. “Whut?”
The host then said, “If you say, make an appeal to a voter, right, saying ‘if you vote for me, you get X.’ What in a kind of concise, tangible sense, talking to a regular guy.” Then Newsom again spoke over the host saying, “Don’t struggle with me over my communiqué. I told you what my ‘why’ is, and why I’m here and I mean that and that’s engrained in every aspect of my life.”
Nope! It didn’t get any better. In fact, I think Newsom needs to get all of this “communiqué” translated into human so that we all can understand his “why” and “whut”.
Jesse Watters’ said, “‘Knee pads’ has no plans. None!”
It was funny that Jesse Watters then played another recent interview with Newsom where, of course, Newsom bashed Trump on Iran saying, “I am also mindful that you have a president that is still inarticulate and incapable of giving us the rational of why. Why now. What’s the end game?”
What is so odd is that this statement could be understood and yet Newsom’s former interview was insanely incoherent, and Newsom wants to complain that President Trump is inarticulate? Newsom should be forced to listen to his own interview responses.
It is amazing Newsom can be clear and articulate when he wants to criticize President Trump, but when simply asked “Why should a voter vote for you?,” Newsom responded with gobbledygook and then got offended when pressed further stating, “I’m just giving you my ‘why’ so you translate it into human.” That is so odd that it is bizarre. Was he sober in one interview and drunk in the other? If he really wants to run for president, he probably shouldn’t drink before videotaped interviews, although that never stopped Kamala Harris.
When Katie Couric interviewed Newsom, she asked him, “Do you have a zoolander problem?” Then she asked, “Are you just ridiculously good looking? No, seriously. What do you do about that?” Newsom responded, “You don’t do anything about it. Cuz, if you are going to do something about it, then you are bullshitting people. You know what? I am who I am.” The word, “zoolander” is defined to mean a “vain, superficial person obsessed with their appearance.” That seems to fit Newsom well with his grease gel hairdo. Maybe his campaign cap could read, “Why a Zoolander?” Or maybe “Make America Greasy Again.” That way he can pretend people with MAGA hats support him.
Joe Concha of Fox News stated that Newsom’s interview describing the reason to vote for him made “Kamala Harris sound articulate.” Concha stated that Newsom is a “pathological narcissist,” which is someone who “often displays grandiosity, entitlement, and lack of empathy for others.” Concha stated, Newsom would say or do anything to be president of the United States, not to better the country, but because he thinks he is entitled to sit behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. Concha states, he can’t run on his record in California and points out that Newsom is so desperate that he even went on Hasan Piker’s Podcast, who in an interview with Mamdani stated that America deserved 9/11. Concluding Concha stated, Gavin Newsom has proven — “that rock bottom does have a basement.”
That would be a good campaign slogan for Newsom. “Rock bottom has a basement.”
So, Newsom has some choices for campaign slogan: “Why?”, “Whut?”, “Why a Zoolander?”, “Make America Greasy Again” or “Rock bottom has a basement.” Which will he pick?
